What are the special programs offered at Spring Leadership Academy?
We offer a Leadership Officer Training Corps, a leadership development program for middle schoolers that focuses on Positive Self-Esteem, Citizenship, Teamwork, Self-Discipline, Respect, Physical Fitness, and Honesty.

Our campus Pathway is Business Management & Administration. We offer courses in Touch Systems Data Entry, Professional Communication, and College and Career Readiness among others.

What is the Leadership Officer Training Corps, and is it required (LOTC)?
The Leadership Officer Training Corps is a program designed to develop leadership and promote character development in students. The LOTC learning environment focuses on service and positive relationships through accountability and discipline. This course is required for all SLA scholars.

What are entrance agreements?
Upon acceptance to Spring Leadership Academy, each student will sign an entrance agreement. Entrance Agreements are you and your child’s signed commitment to:

  • Attend Spring Leadership Academy for 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade
  • Adhere to the SISD and school code of conduct.
  • Maintain a specific grade average in content area and elective classes.

Is my child guaranteed to have their first elective choice?
We try our best to accommodate all students’ primary preference for their second choice, but we cannot guarantee that your child will get their first elective choice.

What are the school bell times?
Our current school times are from 9:05 a.m. to 4:25 p.m. Students may be dropped off at the campus no earlier than 8:35 a.m.

Do you offer sports on your campus?
No, we do not currently offer UIL sports at Spring Leadership Academy, but students can participate in intramural sports clubs at SLA or play UIL sports at Claughton MS.

Does Spring Leadership Academy have a dress code?
We do have standardized dress, however students have free dress on Fridays that aligns with SISD and campus dress code policy.

Does Spring Leadership Academy provide transportation?
Yes, transportation information can be located at the Spring ISD website under Transportation. Students living more than one mile from the campus will be notified of their bus routes over the summer prior to the start of the 2026-2027 school year.

What other elective classes are offered at Spring Leadership Academy?
We offer Piano, Art, Choir, Spanish I & II, and Spanish for Spanish Speakers. All scholars take Business CTE courses as well.

What day will the Phase Two interviews be held at Spring Leadership Academy?
The interview day will be held on a selected date during the district mandated Interview Window during the second semester. The date typically falls in February, but fluctuates. Parents of students advancing to Phase II will receive notification via email of the selected date.

How does the sibling and district employee lottery work?
Ten percent of the available seats will be for *siblings of current Spring ISD Schools of Choice students and another 10 percent will be for children of district employees who meet entrance requirements. Please be reminded that siblings and/or district employee lottery applicants will only be classified as such if they have submitted a complete application on or before the deadline, and have met the necessary points for both phases.

*A sibling who currently attends a Spring ISD school of choice is defined as a student who is currently in 6th or 7th grade. This means that this student will actually be in the identified school of choice the following year. Siblings in 8th grade will not be included as those students will no longer be in the identified school of choice the following year.

Henry Suckie

Henry Suckie is the principal of Spring Leadership Academy. He most recently served as Lead Assistant Principal at Forest Brook Middle School in Houston ISD, where his leadership helped move the campus from a “F” to a “B” rating in just one year, with 86% of students demonstrating growth on Math STAAR assessments.

He previously served as Assistant Principal at Spring High School’s Ninth Grade Center and has held roles across elementary, middle, and high school levels. Mr. Suckie brings more than 10 years of experience in education, with a strong focus on academic achievement and student-centered innovation.

Mr. Suckie holds an Educational Specialist degree and a Master of Science in Educational Law and Policy from Nova Southeastern University, as well as a Master of Arts in Criminology and Law from the University of Florida.
