Spring HS is currently an International Baccalaureate (IB) Candidate School for the MYP Programme and will be pursuing authorization as an IB World School. “These are schools that share a common philosophy—a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education that Spring High School believes is important for our students. For further information about the IB and its programmes, visit www.ibo.org.” We are convinced that this programming gives our students a “broad, balanced, conceptual and connected curriculum,” thereby “providing an education that crosses disciplinary, cultural, national and geographical boundaries and champions critical engagement, stimulating ideas and meaningful relationships” (ibo.org). IB students receive an internationally recognized, rigorous and accredited education. The Middle Years Programme (MYP) framework is offered through the Spring ISD School Choice application and lottery process for rising 9th grade scholars for the 25-26 school year. If my child is interested in applying to the MYP option at Spring High School, does my child have to have prior IB courses? No. Spring HIgh School will be accepting incoming 9th grade students from not only Springwoods Village Middle School, but from any school within and outside of Spring ISD. My child is a current 10th grade student in Spring ISD. Can my child apply to this new program? No. Students must be current 8th graders, going into their 9th grade year for the 2024 – 2025 school year. This program only accepts incoming 9th graders. Can I apply to more than one high school of choice? Yes. The online application allows you to apply to more than one high school at the same time. Will students who are not zoned to Spring High School be eligible to apply for the MYP option? Yes. The program is open to all students; however, those who are zoned to Spring High School who qualify for the program will be given first preference/priority. My child is already zoned to Spring High School, do they get automatic admission into the MYP option? No. All incoming 9th graders interested in the MYP option must apply through the school of choice application and be accepted through the process. What are the admissions requirements? Is there an interview? Yes, an interview is included in the admissions process. Does Spring High School offer sports and performing arts to IB students? Yes, students are offered optional high school UIL sports, performing arts, and clubs. Can students earn more points towards their GPA taking IB courses? Yes, IB coursework is weighted more, which can benefit students’ GPA and their postsecondary profile. Spring High School_Texas is a candidate school for the MYP. This school is pursuing authorization as an IB World School. He previously served as principal at Westfield High School before joining Dekaney High School. Before coming to Spring, he worked in Aldine ISD, Fort Bend ISD, and KIPP Houston Public Schools. Reynolds was named Fort Bend’s principal of the year and was ultimately recognized as the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals Region 4 Principal of the Year.
