Winship Elementary School

Winship Elementary School is a B-rated campusWinship Elementary is a legacy to John Winship, former superintendent of Spring Independent School District. Mr. Winship led the district from 1939 until his death in 1973.
During those 34 years, however, Mr. Winship, wasn’t just a superintendent. He was an American History teacher, civics teacher, boys and girls coach, bus driver, building engineer, and part time janitor. He was known as someone who, when there was no one to do a job, did the work himself. Winship Elementary is dedicated to his commitment to children and their families.

Greetings Winship Elementary Parents and Students!

Welcome to our school! I hope you had a wonderful break, filled with opportunities to learn and grow. The staff is thrilled that each parent has entrusted his/her child’s education to us. We will make every effort to help your child achieve academically and socially. It is our goal to create an enriched, learning environment that engages each student. Of course, we need and welcome your support and cooperation. You play a key role in the academic success of our students; therefore, school/parent communication is vital.

Winship Elementary has an excellent teaching staff with a wealth of knowledge. The staff is dedicated to providing a safe, compassionate community of lifelong learners who are scholars, creators, critical thinkers, and problem solvers. We believe high expectations yield academic excellence for all students.

As the leader of our Winship Family, I strongly believe that every child can learn and achieve the highest level of academic success with proper preparation and support. To ensure a successful school year please:

1. Make your child’s prompt attendance to school a priority – INSTRUCTION BEGINS PROMPTLY AT 7:55 AM DAILY.

2. Expect homework Monday through Friday, and projects on a regular basis.

3. Allot time for reading and practicing basic math facts with your child on a nightly basis.

4. Return all requested forms and documents to school in a timely manner.

Our instructional program will be far more effective with your active participation. Your presence is not only welcomed; it is greatly needed! My staff and I look forward to working with each and every one of you. Together we will make this an outstanding school year!
