Smith Elementary School

Spring ISD is pleased to announce the selection of Mrs. Sherry Dunlap as the interim principal of Smith Elementary School. With over 30 years of experience in education, Mrs. Dunlap brings a wealth of knowledge, leadership, and passion to this role. She most recently served as interim principal at Bammel Middle School.

Mrs. Dunlap began her career in Spring ISD and is a highly respected educator with 32 years of service. Her commitment to instructional excellence earned her early recognition, including being the 1994-1995 Teacher of the Year.

Throughout her career, she has led innovative programs, secured grant funding for student support initiatives, and driven instructional growth through staff development. Her leadership has positively impacted students, staff, and families—particularly through mentorship programs and strong community partnerships.

Mrs. Dunlap holds a Master of Education in Educational Administration from the University of St. Thomas, and also earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Alcorn State University.

She is excited to continue Smith Elementary’s tradition of excellence and looks forward to fostering a collaborative, student-centered learning environment. She is eager to work closely with students, staff, and families.
