Dr. Shamethia K. Dillard

Dr. Shamethia K. Dillard is the principal of Jenkins Elementary. With more than 23 years of experience in education — including 10 years of dedicated service in Spring ISD — Dr. Dillard brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership to her new role. Her experience spans both elementary and secondary schools, all within Title I and transformational campuses. Over the years, she has served as an Elementary Teacher, Instructional Specialist, Coordinator, Regional Math Specialist, Elementary Principal of Helen Major Elementary, and most recently, Secondary Associate Principal of Duett Middle School.

Her leadership has focused on turning around campuses and building positive, joyful school cultures. She has led transformational instructional practices through coaching, walkthroughs, and professional development, coordinated critical programs such as special education, attendance, TELPAS, testing, gifted and talented; and designed data-driven action plans that improved student performance and accountability. Dr. Dillard has also built strong connections with families, staff, and community partners to celebrate student and staff success.

Dr. Dillard is a lifelong learner, holding two Master’s degrees and a Doctorate in Educational Innovation and Leadership.

The Spring Independent School District serves over 34,000 prekindergarten through 12th-grade students in a diverse district located 20 miles north of central Houston. From high-quality early childhood programs to college preparation courses and career pathway exploration, there are programs and services designed to meet the needs of every Spring ISD student.
